Connect the WordPress plugin

Install Hex SEO, run it alongside your current SEO plugin, import your data and connect it to a Hex workspace.

Install

Hex SEO needs WordPress 5.8 or later and PHP 7.4 or later. Upload the plugin under Plugins > Add New > Upload and activate it. The setup wizard opens on first activation.

Running alongside another SEO plugin

If Rank Math, Yoast SEO, All in One SEO, SEOPress, The SEO Framework or Squirrly SEO is active, Hex SEO turns its own front-end output off so no tags are duplicated. Use Hex > Import to bring your settings across, check them, then choose Switch to Hex.

Connect to Hex

1. In Hex, open Team & settings > API keys and create a key. Viewer keys can read; editor keys can also apply fixes.
2. In WordPress, open Hex > Connect, paste the API URL (https://api.hexseo.au) and the key, and choose Test connection.
3. Choose Link this site, then Verify ownership.

Keys can also live in wp-config.php as SFW_HEX_API_URL and SFW_HEX_API_KEY.

Apply fixes

Crawler recommendations appear in the plugin. Run a dry run to see what would change, then apply. Titles, descriptions, canonicals, robots, schema, focus keywords and redirects are applied automatically; content changes are left for a person.
